The Sharpsville Area High School team of sophomores Isabella Manning, Kennedy Jones, and Gwynne Frazer captured fourth place in the State of Pennsylvania for the PETE&C Young Inventors Competition in Hershey, Pennsylvania on February 14. The team created an invention entitled "Safe Flash" which was an electronic device placed on the back of cars to warn other drivers when a car begins to slip on the ice. As part of the competition, students had to create a prototype, advertisement video, and elevator pitch of their invention. Faculty advisor was Lisa Oliver.
