Volunteers Needed!!!!

The district received the following message from Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is active again in Mercer County!  In January 2016 we completed a home in Farrell for a family.  Presently we are renovating two houses in Sharon that will be ready for sale to deserving families in December 2016, if all goes well.  Our Construction Manager, Steve Harrell, has a small group of dedicated volunteers.  But he is in need of many more!  Steve would love to high school students and youth groups as volunteers.  If you can help with this, please contact Steve directly.  He can be reached on his cell at 724-456-1506.  Steve does text.

The Habitat Family Selection Committee also needs help identifying suitable families.  Please read the one page attachment!  It will help you understand why families need our help.

We thank you in advance for any help that you can give.

The School Band...

This is one of my favorite times of the year.  Our students return after a long summer away to get ready for the fall sports season; however, it is the sound of the band that really gets that emotion flowing.  If students are the lifeblood of this building (which I believe they are) then the band is our heartbeat.  Through each season they stand proud regardless of the weather or having to carry a tuba and full drum kit up to the crows nest in the gym, our band fills the air with our Alma Mater and fight songs.  They spend 6-8 hours per day for three weeks preparing in the rain or hot sun to support their peers.  So, next time you see a band member please let them know how much they are appreciated for their hard work and dedication to supporting the school and for helping to maintain school spirit.

PLEASE - Consider Supporting Sharpsville's Pennsylvania Business Week

October 31st-November 4th

PA Business Week Returns To
Sharpsville High School!
Oct. 31 – Nov. 4, 2016
What makes Pennsylvania Business Week unique is the partnering of business mentors and teachers to assist students in running their companies right in the classroom.    Financial sponsorship and volunteer participation is needed to successfully bring this program back to Sharpsville High School.

Students and educators will learn about America’s economic system and how they play a part in it.  They will gain an understanding of how a business operates; gain appreciation for school subjects and how they relate to the real world; develop leadership, team work, time management, problem solving and people skills; and are exposed to a variety of career fields.  The participation of volunteer business executives brings actual experience and examples of successful organizations right here in our own community!

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Business Advisors play a key role in the PA Business Week program.  They serve as mentor, coach and friend, guiding students through the week-long program.  They assist students in making business decisions based on math, information, and logic.  Financial Sponsors cover the costs associated with the program.  Speakers knowledgeable in business, ethics, money, banking, investments, and manufacturing offer their expertise to students and educators.  Donations of student prizes and program supplies are vitally important and gratefully accepted.

To receive information on how your organization may qualify for Pennsylvania state tax credits with the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program, call the ACES office at (814) 456-7007.  All donations are tax deductible.
